Cropping
With this function, a section can be cut out of a point cloud, which can be defined in the form of a .dxf file. The corresponding file must be loaded into the same project that contains the point cloud which is being cropped. The dxf file must consist of closed polygons, otherwise processing will result in an error. The output file only contains the points that are in the defined section.

Remove noise points
With this function, noise points can be removed from a point cloud using color values.

The user can use the available parameters to influence the nature of the output file:
- Black
- Blue
- White
Select dxf file:
This selection provides the option of removing noise points only from an area which is defined by the dxf file. The output file contains only the processed area. The dxf file must consist of closed polygons, otherwise processing will result in an error.
Thinning
With this function, a point cloud can be thinned out using 3D block filtering. For this purpose, the point cloud is divided into a three-dimensional grid. Finally, a particular point is retained from each of these blocks.

The user can use the available parameters to influence the nature of the output file:
Function type:
The function type can be used to determine which points are retained within a block. The lowest value selects the lowest point, the mean value selects the arithmetic mean and the highest value the highest point within a block.
Distance horizontal / vertical:
Defines the horizontal / vertical block size in meters. If no entry is made by the user, the standard value 0.5 (50 cm) is used. The minimum value of this parameter is 0.1 (10 cm) and the maximum value 2 (2 meters).
Select dxf file:
This selection offers the option of thinning out only an area of a point cloud, which is defined by the dxf file. The output file contains only the thinned area. The dxf file must consist of closed polygons, otherwise processing will result in an error.
Filter
This function removes isolated outliers from a point cloud. For each point in the point cloud, the local neighborhood is analyzed in 3D.

In order to get the best possible results of this function, the user is asked for two parameters that specify the structure of the input point cloud:
- High (up to 5 cm)
- Medium (5 to 10 cm)
- Low (over 10 cm)

Digital terrain model
This function converts a point cloud into a digital terrain model in .dxf format. The input point cloud should already contain a ground topography classification. If this is not the case, you can activate the calculation of a ground topography classification within this function. In this case, however, the output file only contains the digital terrain model and not the calculated ground classification.

What is viPoint® ?
